Tit for Tat: A New York Realtor Pushes the Limits of Corporate Loyalty.

Turnover—maybe it’s what’s holding back your company. What you need are some out of the box ideas for keeping employees around as long as possible.

Let’s brainstorm here. How about 15 percent raises all around? Or… umm…. How about offering really cool modern perks, like discounts on those black glasses and skinny jeans all the hipsters wear, or free tattoos? Free mustaches? Wait a minute… what about a 15 percent raise for any employee who gets a tattoo of the company logo?

Brilliant!

At least one real estate company in New York City is waaaay ahead of you, unfortunately.

So far, Rapid Realty has handed out permanent 15 percent pay bumps to 40 employees who inked the corporate logo on their skin.

“I think it’s a good opportunity to show commitment to a company that makes going to work fun every day,” Rapid Realty employee Robert Trezza told CBS 2 in New York.

It’s an unconventional approach to team-building, but why not, Rapid Realty Owner Andrew Lolli says. In fact, he got the idea from an employee who was so gung-ho about Rapid Realty, he got the logo tat for free.

“He calls me up, he says, ‘Hey Anthony, I’m getting the logo on me,’” Lolli told the station. “I show up at the [tattoo] shop and I’m like, ‘This is cool, how can I repay you?’”

There are no size or placement guidelines, so conceivably, an employee could ink the logo on the bottom of their little toe, if they wanted. But even then, it must be awfully tough to leave a company you loved enough to brand yourself with its logo, right? Tats are meant to be permanent, after all, and laser tattoo removal can cost in the thousands.

One employee decided to get a tiny tat behind her ear.

“I had a paycheck coming in that was a substantial amount of money different, so it was nice,” Brooke Koropatnick told the station.

As for Lolli, he hasn’t gotten a tattoo for his own company just yet, but says he’s planning to do so.
