CORE Exercise: 4 Steps to Get Organized

Feeling you have too much to do and not enough time? To squeeze the most out of every day, try what I  call the CORE Method. To be truly organized, follow these four steps:

1. Capture inputs. When you think of something that needs to be done, the first instinct should be to make a note of it someplace you check regularly—try keeping a list on your smartphone.

2. Organize the information into Start and Due dates. At the end of the day, whatever is left from Step 1 is entered into a to-do list. The key is to carry over the unfinished projects and toss your old reminders each night.

3. Reference what you need to do. I constantly use my TouchDown app to see my upcoming tasks, calendar, contacts, email and notes all in one.

4. Execute your tasks and delete them as you complete them.

Once you've finished one project, how do you rally for the next one? Find out how to set priorities to make the transition easier.
