Growth begins when you acknowledge every part of yourself with compassion…and then intentionally choose which voice aligns with the future you want to create.

Matthew

Dear SUCCESS family,

Matthew Ferry here. Master coach leading the SUCCESS Coaching Certification™ program.

I’ll be coming your way the third Tuesday of every month to talk about all things mindset and coaching.

This week we’re focusing on a powerful idea in psychology called “Parts Work,” made popular through Internal Family Systems (IFS).

The core idea is simple:

You are not one unified voice inside your mind.

You are made up of many different “parts”. And...each has its own fears, motivations, intentions and strategies for keeping you safe.

One part of you wants to grow.

Another part wants certainty.

One part wants to launch the business, make the investment or step onto the stage.

Another part is terrified you’ll fail, lose money or look foolish in front of your family and peers.

Most people experience these inner conflicts as confusion or self-sabotage.

But what if those contradictory voices aren’t actually the enemy?

What if every part of you is trying to help…just from a different perspective?

This changes everything.

Instead of attacking the fearful part of yourself, you become curious about it.

You ask:

“What is this part trying to protect me from?”

“What is it afraid would happen?”

“What positive intention does it have for me?”

That awareness creates separation.

You stop identifying with every thought and emotional impulse.

And from that place, you gain the ability to choose consciously.

Not every part deserves to drive your life.

Some parts were created during moments of fear, embarrassment, rejection or uncertainty. They helped you survive but they may no longer help you thrive.

Growth begins when you acknowledge every part of yourself with compassion…and then intentionally choose which voice aligns with the future you want to create.

That’s not self-rejection.

That’s self-leadership.

More insights next month.

Talk to you soon,

–Matthew
