 This past weekend, I had the pleasure of attending a SUCCESS® magazine release celebration in Los Angeles, and it was an experience I won't soon forget. For decades, I've had the privilege of sitting across from some of the world's most influential voices—asking the questions, guiding the conversation, and bringing their stories to life. But this time, the experience came full circle.
 In front of nearly 200 of his closest friends and community, Tim Storey—our May/June cover star—turned the tables and interviewed me live on stage. To step out from behind the role of interviewer and into the space of being seen, heard, and invited to share my own story was humbling and deeply meaningful. There was a genuine connection that went beyond a typical conversation which was trust, shared purpose, and authenticity in action.
 The room was alive with energy, inspiration, and a sense of collective momentum—a reminder that the work we do is bigger than any single story. It's about creating spaces where stories can be felt, lessons can be absorbed, and growth can happen.
 But what made the evening truly special was what it represented. This wasn't just a magazine release; it was a celebration of the SUCCESS brand itself. A platform built to elevate voices, share transformative ideas, and create community through storytelling.

 Business is evolving at a pace we've never seen before. Entire job categories are shifting. AI is reshaping workflows. Leadership itself is being redefined in real time. And still, even the most ambitious among us quietly hope that some things won't change too much.
 I see this tension every day in the stories that cross my desk, or through our new pitch app.
 There's a noticeable trend in the pitches we receive lately: everyone is chasing speed. "Ten hacks to automate your life." "How to scale overnight." "The AI tool that replaces your team." Efficiency has become the headline. Optimization is the hook.
 And yet, behind the scenes, we're saying no to more of those stories than you might expect. Not because innovation isn't important — it is. But because SUCCESS has never been about shortcuts. It's about substance. We're resisting the race to publish what's flashy in favor of what's foundational. We're choosing depth over noise. Longevity over virality.

We're Turning Down More Stories Than You'd Think — Kerrie Lee Brown

Dear SUCCESS family,
 If there is one lesson my career in media has reinforced again and again, it is that long-term success is rarely about getting it right the first time. It is about knowing when to pause, reassess, and pivot.
 At least, that is what my inner Kerrie voice reminds me of every time I want to crawl into a hole and temporarily opt out of reality. Which, surprisingly, happens a lot.
 When I stepped into my first leadership role at a health and fitness magazine in my 20s, publishing looked very different. Print was dominant. Digital was emerging. Social media had not yet redefined how audiences connect with brands. The unspoken rule was consistency above all else. Perfect the model and protect it.
 What experience taught me is that no model survives unchanged. Longevity requires evolution, not rigidity.
 That realization forced me to take a hard look at myself and commit to growing alongside the industry. I have navigated decades in a turbulent media landscape by staying willing to adapt, learn, and keep moving forward, even when the path was unclear.
 Today, that evolution looks different. It includes expanding my personal brand as a creator and advocate for women in business and life, while also serving as an ambassador for the iconic SUCCESS&reg; brand. Representing a legacy like this is both an honor and a responsibility. And yes, impostor syndrome still shows up.
 Every day.
 On the media front, I have watched audiences shift not only where they consume content, but how and why. Every shift demanded more than a tactical adjustment. It required expanding the container I was operating from.
 As an entrepreneur, that expansion still comes with tension. I wrestle with decisions about investing in new tools, justifying expenses, and taking leaps before returns are guaranteed. That uncertainty never fully disappears, but it does become familiar.
 Pivoting, I have learned, is not a reaction to failure. It is a response to awareness. It is the moment you realize that growth requires new systems, new perspectives, and often a new level of courage.
 The brands and businesses that last share a few things in common:

 Right now, I am in a season of pivoting once again — evaluating new opportunities, refining my voice, and building toward something bigger. It is not always comfortable. But comfort was never the goal.

 Coming back to the work grind this year, I feel more refreshed and grounded than ever.
 This past weekend, I flew to Kansas City to meet with a friend/executive coach because I knew I needed a reset. My heart has been racing a lot lately (a feeling I know all too well), and his guidance to "let go" of the old and "welcome" the new was just what the doctor ordered. All to say, I feel 100% lighter and ready to take on what's to come—without past pressures meddling with my internal peace.
 Enter… a BIG sigh of relief.
 This reset was a great reminder that our health and happiness are connected, and everything we build—personally and professionally—depends on honoring both.
 January is a natural time for reinvention: a time to turn the page, set new goals, and acknowledge the "kinks" and "glips" that come with building big ideas behind the scenes. And at SUCCESS&reg; Enterprises, we've certainly felt them.
 Some of the projects our team has been working on include:

 As professionals with many, many stresses in our lives, it's important to understand that growth rarely moves in a straight line. I've transitioned from journalist to executive and from entrepreneur to leader of an iconic brand. And like many of you, I'm continually juggling the mindset and demands of playing multiple roles at home and in life.
 With that being said, my open invitation to you is to:

 As the holidays approach, I'm always struck by the unique blend of emotions that accompany this time of year. There's excitement—the warm gatherings, the fresh energy, the promise of new beginnings—but also deep reflection.
 What do I mean by this? Well…
 This season invites us to look back with honesty and gratitude, to acknowledge how far we've come, and to evaluate where we want to go next. And, for me, after more than three decades in the media business, this has been one of the most transformative years of my life. I've navigated a divorce, multiple house moves, shifting family dynamics, and the everyday work of keeping my kids happy, healthy, and grounded.
 At the same time, SUCCESS&reg; has undergone its own evolution through a corporate restructuring that required resilience, clarity, and a renewed sense of purpose. Through all of it, I'm reminded that change—though rarely easy—is often the greatest teacher.
 This year has also made me smile.
 I am grateful for the pivotal moments that have shaped both my personal and professional development. And, throughout these moments, I've had the privilege of connecting with recognizable personalities whose wisdom has encouraged me to keep going based on the truth that change is not only inevitable but also necessary.
 Some of the conversations that most influenced me include:

 And, despite the challenges, I can genuinely say that all is good. Every twist and turn has brought clarity and renewed purpose.

 After 30 years in the magazine business, my mantra remains the same: Create content that truly moves people. No matter who the audience, what the platform, or the time or season, stories that make you think, feel and take action are the ones that pique our interest.
 When we decide which voices or stories to feature, we always ask: Will this make a meaningful impact on our readers? Recently, after reading letters from readers who felt motivated to start new ventures or make bold career shifts because of something they read in SUCCESS&reg; magazine, I had one of those "This is what SUCCESS&reg; is all about" moments. It reminded me that our mission isn't just to report on success—it's to help people create it.

 If you recognize me from the pages of SUCCESS&reg; magazine, you probably know how passionate I am about helping others grow professionally, personally and emotionally. What you might not know is that behind the scenes, I'm not just a content leader. I'm a mom. I'm a woman in business. And like many of you reading this, I'm constantly navigating the roller coaster of expectations, responsibilities, and yes—pressures.
 Let's be honest: being a mom is a full-time job. So is being a driven professional. Combine the two, and you've got a beautiful but demanding life that can take a toll on your mind, body and spirit.
 As the Chief Content Officer and Editor-in-Chief at SUCCESS&reg; Enterprises, I am incredibly proud of how we're evolving our brand and assets to meet the needs of today's professionals—especially as we move into a more AI-forward space focused on personal development. But with that innovation comes responsibility. Big decisions. Long hours. Endless meetings. And that ever-present mom guilt when I'm not fully present at home.
 The truth is, stress is inevitable. And I'm no stranger to what unchecked stress can do to a person.
 Years ago, at the height of my corporate climb—before joining SUCCESS&reg;—I experienced a heart attack. Yes, a real one. I was young, seemingly healthy, and pushing myself beyond the limits of what was sustainable. My body finally said, "Enough."
 That moment changed everything. It forced me to reevaluate not just how I worked, but why I worked. I had to slow down, prioritize differently, and embrace the idea that success doesn't always mean doing more—it means doing what matters, and doing it well.
 Now, as I lead our incredible team at SUCCESS&reg; and help shape the stories and strategies that empower our readers and Insider members, I do so with a renewed sense of purpose. I understand what burnout feels like. I know what it's like to feel torn between deadlines and dinnertime. And I've learned the hard way that being everything to everyone isn't sustainable—or necessary.
