The YouEconomy has been good to me.

In 2005 I left the best-paying job I’d ever had and went out on my own as a freelance writer. But three years later I was depressed and broke. I couldn’t understand it. I was a decent writer—why was I barely scraping by? The stress of making ends meet convinced me to take another full-time job while keeping a few clients on the side.
Fortunately, that full-time job was at SUCCESS. For the next four years, first as managing editor and then as senior editor of the magazine, I had the opportunity to meet, interview and work with some of the finest entrepreneurs, experts and achievers in the world. I began to see why my attempt to join the YouEconomy had failed.
Two reasons: First, I was totally unprepared for the emotional toll of working solo. Negative thinking, lack of self-discipline, and loneliness sabotaged me. Second, I had zero business knowledge and made zero effort to learn. That naiveté (or arrogance, depending on how you look at it) had run my little business right into the ground.
So applying the knowledge I’d gained at SUCCESS, I relaunched my business full time in 2012. I created a business plan, hired contractors to work with me virtually, and added clients through referrals. Before I knew it, I had pulled in a six-figure revenue my first year back.
The YouEconomy has provided everything I need to create the life I want. I’m available to my family and have time to follow my passions while making a great living.
As you read this issue, I hope you’ll find the inspiration you need to start your own side hustle, write your business plan or sign up for an online course. Because, my friend, the YouEconomy is available for you, too. Isn’t it time you found your place?
