Digital twins, meanwhile, are much more specific: virtual versions of real people, created from detailed survey responses, past interactions or behavioral data.</p>

<p>Companies across industries are already experimenting with synthetic personas and digital twins to gain a competitive edge. Analysts predict the global digital twin market could see annual growth of <a href="https://post.parliament.uk/digital-twins-dynamic-models-that-respond-to-real-time-data/#heading-4" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">up to 45%</a>, climbing from $13-$16 billion in 2023 to $138-$195 billion by 2030.<strong> </strong>In the fast-food sector, for example, chains can use AI-generated customer profiles to test new menu items, promotions or store layouts before rolling them out nationally, helping them predict what combinations will appeal to different customer segments.</p>



<p>Retailers are employing similar approaches to simulate shopping behaviors and optimize product placement, while streaming services use digital twins to forecast content preferences and engagement. Even financial institutions are exploring these tools to model client reactions to new investment products or digital services. But it also means that intimate details of an individual’s life are being used, often without their direct knowledge, to guide corporate decisions. Experts warn that the more granular the model, the greater the risk of privacy breaches, inadvertent bias or manipulative targeting, turning what seems like a useful tool into a potential ethical minefield.&nbsp;</p>

They generate responses by predicting what words or phrases are most likely to follow a given prompt based on patterns learned from massive amounts of text. This means they can sound confident and authoritative even when the information is incomplete, biased or inaccurate.&nbsp;</p>

<p>New research from the European Broadcasting Union and the BBC, released in October, shows that nearly half of the responses from top AI assistants misrepresent news content. The study looked at 14 languages and evaluated tools like ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini and Perplexity for accuracy, sourcing and the ability to separate fact from opinion. Overall, <a href="https://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/2025/new-ebu-research-ai-assistants-news-content" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">45% of responses</a> had at least one major problem, and a staggering 81% contained some type of error.&nbsp;</p>



<p>A major cause of AI chatbot inaccuracies is sourcing, as almost 1 in 3 responses can include missing or misleading citations. Even when asked for sources or citations, chatbots can try to generate plausible-sounding references. If it doesn’t have an exact source, it may invent one that looks correct, a phenomenon called “hallucination.” AI frequently delivers partial truths or misleading information, even during routine conversations.</p>



<p>According to a <a href="https://www.euronews.com/next/2025/09/05/which-ai-chatbot-spews-the-most-false-information-1-in-3-ai-answers-are-false-study-says" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">May study</a> by NewsGuard, chatbots, like those from Meta and Open AI, produce false information in about a third of their responses. In light of ongoing findings like those, Google CEO Sundar Pichai reaffirmed to the BBC that AI systems are “<a href="https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c8drzv37z4jo" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">prone to errors</a>” and recommended using them in combination with other sources of information. He added: “This is why people also use Google search, and we have other products that are more grounded in providing accurate information.”&nbsp;</p>



<p>Highlighting the <a href="https://successcom.wpenginepowered.com/risks-of-ai-in-workplace/">limits of AI</a>, Pichai said people “have to learn to use these tools for what they're good at, and not blindly trust everything they say.” He told the BBC, “We take pride in the amount of work we put in to give us as accurate information as possible, but the current state-of-the-art AI technology is prone to some errors.”</p>

<p>First, it’s crucial to understand that for important or sensitive work where you need full confidence in your information, a chatbot alone is not sufficient. In these cases, you should also consult traditional search engines, authoritative websites, academic databases and other trusted online resources to cross-check and verify facts.</p>

<p>When some flexibility is possible, the most reliable approach is to prompt the AI to cite and reference all opinions, data or details. That could mean asking it to pinpoint a page number in a book for a quote or to cross-check recent news stories to ensure you’re not relying on an untrustworthy source. Following the suggested links can help you find what you need without having to sift through multiple websites. From there, you can check if the chatbot’s sources genuinely support your query, as suggested links can occasionally be nonfunctional or completely off-topic.</p>



<p>Look for specific names, dates, statistics or quotes and verify them independently. If the AI provides a statistic, try searching the number directly; if it mentions an expert or organization, confirm they actually exist and are connected to the claim. These small verification steps take less than a minute but dramatically reduce the risk of acting on false or distorted information.</p>

<p>With attention spans this short, every element on your site needs to work hard. That means making your logo instantly recognizable, designing a navigation menu that’s intuitive and easy to scan and placing key calls-to-action where users will actually see them. Your search box should be prominent and simple, while images need to grab attention immediately and support your brand story.</p>



<p>Written content should be concise, clear and skimmable, delivering value in just a few seconds. Essentially, it’s about creating a visual and functional hierarchy that guides visitors effortlessly through your site, helping them notice, understand and remember your brand before their eyes wander elsewhere.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Reed II points to a concept known as “inside-out coherence,” which he says is crucial for modern brands to perfect. Employees need to understand and embody the brand’s purpose before customers ever see a new logo. The most successful brands don’t roll out new guidelines; they roll out new belief systems. When the brand’s inner story matches its outer signals, consumers feel the difference. They sense truth.”</p>



<p>Inevitably, much of the visual transformation and digital innovation driving how brands refresh their look and feel begins online with the best tools available. It’s no surprise that AI is playing a significant role in this evolution. According to recent data from <a href="https://www.netguru.com/blog/ai-adoption-statistics" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Netguru</a>, 78% of organizations are utilizing AI in at least one business function, marking a substantial increase from 55% the previous year. Specifically, nearly <a href="https://www.mckinsey.com/capabilities/quantumblack/our-insights/the-state-of-ai" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">80%</a> of companies are now leveraging generative AI to enhance their design, branding, strategy and product offerings.&nbsp;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-simplifying-the-customer-journey-through-smart-digital-marketing"><strong>Simplifying the customer journey through smart digital marketing</strong></h2>



<p>Venkatesh (Venky) Shankar is a marketing professor and director at SMU’s Cox School of Business, where he leads the Brierley Institute for Customer Engagement. His research focuses on digital marketing, AI, AR, VR, branding and consumer behavior, advising global retailers on technology-driven growth.</p>



<p>“AI, AR and VR can enhance brand image by making experiences more relevant, immersive and reliable. AI personalizes offers and timing to improve engagement and loyalty, while AR/VR builds confidence and emotional connection through interactivity,” says Venkatesh. He adds: “However, technological reliability is essential. My research shows that even small app failures can erode trust and sales. Businesses should use technology to simplify and elevate the customer journey, not complicate it.”</p>



<p>Shankar advises entrepreneurs and business leaders to “leverage low-cost <a href="https://successcom.wpenginepowered.com/tech-tools-for-small-businesses/">digital tools</a>, modular design templates and quick experiments to identify what boosts engagement or repeat purchase…. Practical improvements in mobile utility and customer convenience outperform cosmetic updates. In modernization, simplicity, focus and measurement trump big creative budgets.”</p>

Powell says the AI jobs apocalypse should not be ignored. Not just a little bit smarter—but way beyond our best scientists, artists or strategists across the globe. It’s the idea of AI that can outperform us in basically every intellectual task: reasoning, creativity, planning, even understanding emotions and human behavior.</p>



<p>Currently, we’re still in the “narrow AI” stage, with systems that <a href="https://successcom.wpenginepowered.com/how-to-train-ai-for-your-workflow/">excel in specific tasks</a>, such as generating text, recognizing images or playing chess. Superintelligence, on the other hand, would be the next leap, a kind of AI that could improve itself, design better versions of itself and rapidly surpass human intelligence.</p>



<p>It’s both exciting and a little scary. On the one hand, a superintelligent AI could solve massive global problems, such as disease, climate change and energy shortages. On the other, if it isn’t aligned with human values or goals, it could make decisions that aren’t exactly in our best interest. That’s why so much of today’s AI research isn’t just about making systems smarter, but also safer.</p>



<p>Lately, the conversation around superintelligence has gone from futuristic speculation to a serious global debate. Just recently, hundreds of public figures, including Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak and Virgin’s Richard Branson, signed an <a href="https://superintelligence-statement.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">open letter</a> urging a ban on the development of AI that could reach or exceed human-level intelligence. Their concern isn’t about today’s chatbots or image generators, but about what comes next: systems that could act autonomously, rewrite their own code and make decisions with real-world consequences faster than we could ever understand or control.</p>







<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-why-global-experts-are-sounding-the-alarm-on-unchecked-ai-progress"><strong>Why global experts are sounding the alarm on unchecked AI progress</strong></h2>



<p>The letter warns that unchecked progress toward superintelligence could lead to systems capable of acting autonomously, making decisions with real-world consequences (financial, political, even existential) at speeds no human could match.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Oxford philosopher Nick Bostrom, author of <a href="https://amzn.to/43tXfgV" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><em>Superintelligence: Paths, Dangers, Strategies</em></a>, has long cautioned that once artificial intelligence reaches human-level general intelligence, it could quickly outpace us, leaving humanity’s future in the hands of a system whose goals might not align with our own. Alongside him in this fight against an entirely AI-free market is Geoffrey Hinton, often called the “Godfather of AI.”</p>



<p>Hinton, who helped pioneer the neural networks that underpin modern AI systems, made headlines when he resigned from Google in 2023 to speak more freely about the risks of the technology he helped create. In interviews, Hinton has warned that as AI systems continue to learn and evolve, they could soon <a href="https://successcom.wpenginepowered.com/lawzero-scientist-ai-deception/">develop their own forms of reasoning</a>, ones that we neither understand nor can fully predict.&nbsp;</p>



<p>The Nobel Prize-winning scientist is so concerned about the pace of AI development that he has previously warned there’s a <a href="https://edition.cnn.com/2025/08/13/tech/ai-geoffrey-hinton" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">10%-20% chance</a> AI could wipe out humans altogether. This year has already produced alarming examples of AI systems willing to deceive, cheat and even steal to meet their objectives. In one famous case <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cpqeng9d20go" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">this May</a>, an AI model tried to blackmail an Anthropic engineer over an affair it had discovered in an email in a concerning effort to avoid being replaced.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-how-self-improving-ai-might-outpace-humans-soon"><strong>How self-improving AI might outpace humans soon</strong></h2>



<p>Today’s AI models, like the ones that <a href="https://successcom.wpenginepowered.com/how-to-use-chatgpt/">power chatbots</a> or <a href="https://successcom.wpenginepowered.com/adobe-ai-toolkit/">image generators</a>, are trained on massive amounts of data. They learn by recognizing patterns, billions of them, and then predicting what should come next. The more data and computing power we throw at them, the better they get. Once an AI system can start improving itself, like writing its own code, refining its algorithms and optimizing its hardware use, it enters a recursive self-improvement loop. That’s the real tipping point.</p>



<p>In this loop, every upgrade the AI makes allows it to learn even faster, which leads to even better upgrades, a cycle that could quickly spiral beyond human understanding. Imagine teaching a student who becomes smart enough to rewrite the textbook and invent new subjects overnight. That’s what researchers mean when they talk about an impending intelligence explosion. Once that feedback loop starts, the AI could leap from human-level intelligence to something vastly more powerful rather quickly.&nbsp;</p>
