Your Action Plan is a monthly to-do list of tips straight from SUCCESS magazine—10 things you can do right now to improve yourself and your life.

This month, focus on becoming the best you in all areas of partnership. Know your purpose and then nurture your relationships, with others and yourself, to be successful.

1. Find purpose.

Does your current life reflect your values, your why? If not, you need to re-evaluate where you are and where you want to be. Surround yourself with people who will inspire you to get there.

2. Be alone.

Learn how to be comfortable on your own. Plan a solo trip, whether that’s hiking a new trail in your city or setting out for a weekend with no destination in mind.

3. Open up.

It’s always easier to stereotype a generation rather than get to know those around you as individual people with individual stories. Start reaching out to co-workers from different generations. You might be surprised what you can learn.

4. Compromise.

Backing down isn’t a sign of weakness. If you’re a headstrong person, approach every negotiation with a willingness to listen and change your stance.

5. Take a now step.

We often build up problems in our minds. The next time you catch yourself stressing about a problem, ask yourself one thing you can do about it right now.

6. Connect deeper.

When communicating with others, remember it’s not about you. Put down your phone, let go of preconceived notions and simply listen.

7. Love thyself.

The negative voice in your head says you can’t achieve your dreams. Take back control with positive self-talk. Note every instance of negative self-talk you engage in and commit to rewriting that script.

8. Draw the line.

Casual offices are the norm. That doesn’t mean everyone you work with is your best friend. Don’t overshare personal details. Set polite but firm boundaries.

9. Talk it out.

Finances and relationships can become tense quickly. Avoid any future conflicts by being honest and upfront about how you plan to split bills, and saving and spending goals.

10. Look up.

Who in your life has inspired you to grow, push and move toward your goals? Make a list of the top five people and reconnect with them. Show appreciation for those relationships.
