I love to study the leadership of Sir Winston Churchill. A quote of his is, “Success is never final. Failure is never fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts.”
The context of that quote was immediately after World War II. In the summer of 1945, he was voted out of office. Now, think about how you would feel. You’ve led your nation in its darkest hour to victory. You’re a hero for your country and for western civilization—and you’re voted out of office.
Can you imagine, how you would go, “What did I do wrong?” Well that was when he made that quote—and it’s the truth: Success is never final. It’s not over until it’s over. Failure is not fatal, but courage is what’s critical.
