There’s an App for There

Whether the trip is business or personal, you’ll get some mileage out of these handy apps.

Google Translate (Free)
Speak or type an English phrase into your device and hear the translation in more than 60 languages on iOS products (more than 70 on Android). In addition to listening to your translation spoken aloud, the app will directly translate speech and handwriting—and see the dictionary results for single words or phrases. You’ll be able to break down the language barrier separating you and a potential business partner… or maybe a loverrr.

XE Currency (Free)
What’s this got to do with the price of tea in China? Well, it’ll allow you to view more than 180 world currencies—including the yuan—with up-to-the-minute exchange rates, and you can analyze historical charts on your Apple or Android device.

AroundMe (Free)
Once upon a time you had to ask the locals for directions, only to find out they’re new to the area. Now you just look to your iPhone or Android and use this easy-to-use locator to find the nearest ATM, gas station, restaurant, pub, supermarket or whatever—and it even provides GPS-driven directions to your choice destination. It’s simple access to local information.
