SUCCESS Stories Episode 21: Moving Forward with Alli Webb & Adrian Koehler
Alli Webb is a New York Times best-selling author and an entrepreneur. In 2010, she and her brother, Michael, co-founded Drybar, which has grown to become a salon chain with over 150 locations across the U.S., exploding into a nationally recognized and highly sought-after brand. Adrian is her executive coach and boyfriend. He himself is an entrepreneur, a leadership engagement expert and the founder of the executive coaching firm Take New Ground. He guides others in the art and science of leadership to help them create new unprecedented results and experience fulfillment through their work. Together, Alli and Adrian host the podcast Raising the Bar, covering the stuff you wish entrepreneurs really talked about—the good, the bad and the messy.
If ever you get discouraged, go back to this conversation, which ranges from founders to business to relationships. Listen to the full episode to hear Alli and Adrian’s stories and their takes on all of the above.
A few lessons from Alli and Adrian…
- As a founder or a leader, you’re expected to have all the answers, to know what you’re doing, to have it all figured out, but it’s OK if you don’t, or if you have a lot less figured out than more. You will make mistakes, but you’ll also learn.
- When it comes to impostor syndrome, the bad news is, we all actually are impostors—we all have labels we are scared might be true of us, so we live our lives not to be that. The good news is, that doesn’t matter. You are not your history; you are your purpose. The best we can do is notice our thinking, and if we notice that my thinking isn’t me, it’s just what I happen to be thinking.
