Reading List: Little Victories

The advice in this endearing guide to finding fulfillment and satisfaction in small accomplishments is both “practical and ridiculous” and neither “perfect nor universal,” writes Wall Street Journal sports columnist Jason Gay. The caution is unnecessary. Gay doesn’t come across as a lofty expert on how to better one’s life. Instead he reminds us that while life is filled with stresses, not all stressors are created equal and that a person’s penchant for elevating unimportant events into real stresses can take a toll on health and well-being.

Gay opines on parenting, marriage and work. He takes on the pros and cons of social media, Thanksgiving, touch football and a host of other topics. A healthy dose of humor, wisdom and engaging anecdotes (interviewing a sleepy Rihanna on a plane at 4 a.m. is a favorite) make Little Victories: Perfect Rules for Imperfect Living a big win.
