Filled with anecdotes, exercises, tasks and illustrations, Build Your Dreams presents a five-stage framework and life plan aimed at 20-somethings searching for career direction and a way to make a living doing what they love. The advice is basic but valuable. Authors Chip Hiden and Alexis Irvin came up with this framework as they pursued their own dreams, and the book, through essays, exercises, illustrations and more, offers the framework through an acronym: DREAM. For young people wanting to achieve their dreams, they must go through the steps: Discovery, Research, Embark, Adapt and Maintain. Hiden demonstrated his passion for social entrepreneurship in college when he started Chipapalooza, a nonprofit that raises money for diabetes research. Irvin’s college years revolved around politics before focusing on storytelling, her true love. The book is a perfect starting point for recent graduates in search of a life plan.
