Bestdayever ConversationSPICE UP THE CONVERSATION

Is mealtime conversation with your family or significant other lackluster? Try these prompts:

  • If you could be anybody currently alive for 24 hours, who would it be and why?
  • If you had to give up one taste sensation (bitter, sweet, sour, salty or savory), which would it be and why?
  • What is your earliest childhood memory? Why do you think it has stuck with you?
  • If you could get on a plane and go anywhere in the world tonight, where would you go and why?

EAT LIKE THE GREEKS

The importance of socializing at mealtime.

On Ikaria, a Greek island, an abnormally large concentration of people live to be more than 100 years old. It’s one of the places in the world where people live the longest. There are many theories about why people here live this long—from their diet to work habits to air quality—but one of them is the way people eat. Ikarians always eat with other people—never alone—and treat meals as a time to relax and enjoy oneself. Mealtime is never hurried or seen as a burden but rather one of the peak times of pleasure in one’s day.

“I got instantly hooked on this show about women wrestlers in the 1980s. It’s a nice escape from the present day, where technology and devices rule everything.”

Christian Stovall
Sr. Production Designer

“This show became my updated version of Seinfeld—hilarious episodes filled with Julia Louis-Dreyfus, inappropriate humor and swipes at the political landscape, all in 30-minute capsules.”

“When this show came to Netflix, I binged it three times, purely for nostalgia. I love it because it’s relevant no matter the year, culturally empowering and always funny.”

Jessica Krampe
Digital Managing Editor

“It’s usually the last thing I do at night before I go to sleep. The show is comforting for me. If I have a stressful day, a sad day, whatever, I turn on Friends. It’s funny. It’s relatable. It’s happy. And it makes everything OK.”
