A supportive family can mean the difference between success and failure, says Starla Tyler, founder and CEO of Little Cosmetics, a kid’s play-makeup company that offers realistic, mess-free options that look and feel like the real deal, without the harmful toxins often found in pretend makeup. As a former teacher, Tyler found it difficult to manage dueling careers and spend time with her daughter, Zaria, the inspiration for Little Cosmetics. In May Tyler’s story was selected as one of the 31 Days of #WOMENtrepreneurs by the Entrepreneurs’ Organization. Tyler says she relies on family to get through the hectic times and advises aspiring entrepreneurs to do the same.
“Pace yourself and do not take on more than you can handle,” she says. “Early on, I had my entire family help me during the busy seasons and I never said no to help. Even now with employees, I still rely on my family to help me out when I’m in a pinch.”
