Extreme Arm Wrestling?

It seems anything can be made into an extreme sport. Just pair an over-amped announcer with a speed metal soundtrack, then slap an X on it and add superlatives of danger (meanest, bloodiest, ‘x-tremist’). That doesn’t mean it’ll always work.

Remember WCW Founder Vince McMahon’s foray into extreme football, the XFL? Teams such as the New York Hitmen, Memphis Maniax and Los Angeles Xtreme only competed one season before the league dissolved for lack of viewership and audience.

However, Ultimate Fighting Championship Founder Art Davie is seeking venture capital for his new sport, XARM–extreme arm wrestling. Publicists say it’s arm wrestling with a twist: “Is there any young man who has not yet challenged his buds to an arm wrestle? XARM is EXTREME arm wrestling that uses all body parts not locked into a one-arm grip to win three of the one-minute rounds, martial arts style.”

Well yeah, who hasn’t challenged a buddy to a no-holds barred, exxxxtreme arm wrestling match. I just arm wrestled my three-year-old this morning. And lost.
