Must Have “Style and Substance” Tips for WomenLast week, we brought you the best ways to dress for the tall and short man. Now, it’s girl talk. Let’s focus on getting the most from our wardrobes—based on body type. 1. The Inverted Pyramid: If your top is larger than your bottom, try an embossed jacket and urban skirt. A buttoned jacket gives the look of a smaller waist. The ever-so-slight flair of this skirt adds fullness at the bottom to create balance. 2. The Pyramid: If your bottom is larger than your top, pair a printed matte jersey shrug with stretch pants. The print in the shrug and a light color draw attention and add fullness to the top. Small shoulder pads could be added to create balance. 3. The Rectangle: If your top and bottom are in proportion, mix a long-sleeved crew and gauchos. Adding a belt with a bit of flair will emphasize your waist and attitude with this “can’t miss” look. 3 Tips for Creating Work-Life Balance1. Unwind on the Way Home: The speech, pace and energy are different at the office than at home. Utilize your drive home to help you change gears and make the transition. Don’t continue the overstimulation by listening to news or talking on your cell phone. By keeping quiet your vital signs will slow down and you can think about how you want to spend time with your family. Push away thoughts of the day and be ready for casual conversation at home. 2. Use other parts of brain: As the saying goes – “all work, no play makes Jack a dull boy.” Have things going on at home that will stimulate other parts of your brain. For most of us keyed-up, type-A personalities, doing nothing is not remedy. Many times doing something fun and stimulating to other parts of the brain gives our "work brain" a rest. 3. Schedule time with friends: What gets scheduled on the calendar gets accomplished. Make your friends a priority. The best way to ensure they are, is to officially get them on your calendar. Make an appointment once a week to have lunch or dinner with a friend. Also, every time you meet, coordinate your schedules on the spot for your next get-together. Oxygen does more than keep you alive; it helps keep you calm. Deep breathing can slow the heart, reduce anxiety and increase endorphin levels. 2. Forgive Yourself. No one is perfect, and we all say or do things we later regret. What’s important is to ask forgiveness, move on and try not to repeat hurtful behavior. 3. Express Gratitude. Each day creates a list of everything for which you are grateful. Learn to view problems as potential blessings. An attitude of gratitude will generate an abundance of well-being. 4. Get Perspective. If you’re worrying about an issue that really isn’t a big deal or if it’s a situation you can’t control, put it aside and let it go. Life sometimes does hit hard, but too often we work ourselves into frenzy over matters of small importance. |
