There are some people who hold onto their old school Rolodex for years, and there are others that stay five steps ahead of the technological curve in the hottest contact management apps. Here are four apps for both kind of folks:
Bump: Use Bump to do one of two cool things: share contact information and photos by simply bumping two phones together, or move photos from your phone to your computer. Now admittedly, the computer-to-phone bump (fire up the app on your phone, go to the bump site and tap the spacebar to "bump" photos) didn't work perfectly the first time, or the second, but that's probably user error. Related: Use Bump's Flock app to share photos with friends instantly. Feel free to bump contacts at networking events and even in the workplace. Free. Online, Apple and Android.
Friendthem: You might know Friendthem as the little app that announced plans to sue Facebook for stealing their "find friends nearby" function. The location-based connectivity app makes it easy to send Facebook friend requests to people they meet in the real world. Instead of searching through a dozen Karen Smith profiles to find the one you just met at a networking event, Friendthem uses your current location to narrow it down and find people you've connected with. And yes, the app has easily-configured privacy controls in case you don't want to be found so easily. Free. Apple and Android.
MeetWays: This site, technically not an app, is designed to help people meet in the middle. You input two locations (or use your current location and input your colleague’s address) and it locates suitable venues in the middle. The search can be narrowed down by type of venue, and you can store contacts and venues in your favorites for future use. From there, you can email directions to yourself and your colleague. The only thing left to do is meet up and have a good time. Free. Apple and Android.
ScanBizCards: For those people who are attached to their business cards, this handy app scans your businesses cards and automatically translates the information to a digital contact, letting you edit the information and add more. Free. Onine, Apple and Android.
